The Colorist Edit Week 018

Audience Q&A and weekly favorites

Welcome to Week 018 of The Colorist Edit.

This week I’m answering some of your questions and providing styling tips on color, body types and fabrics. I love reading your questions and comments, but I don’t always have time to deep dive into answers. This format will be a great way to offer advice and insight for those wanting a little bit more.

A few things we cover in the video:

  1. Proportion Dressing Basics: Understanding body proportions as a styling tool

  2. Body Shapes and Balance: Hourglass, pear, inverted triangle, apple, rectangle

  3. Wearing Color Confidently: Why color can feel clownish (visual tension)

  4. Easy Color Strategies: Analogous colors, lowering saturation, tonal dressing

  5. Styling Silk Pants: Pairing fabrics with contrast and texture

If you watched the video above and are interested in taking the proportions quiz, you can do so here.

Ditch the Default 30 Day Style Challenge

Many of you have been asking me for help developing your personal style, so I’m excited to announce that I’ll be launching a style challenge at the beginning of September.

Developing your personal style takes practice, trial and error, and discovering the combinations of colors, fabrics, and silhouettes that you naturally gravitate toward. But we can only discover that if we’re willing to ditch the default.

When you join the challenge, you’ll have the opportunity to practice putting together outfits for 30 days, following weekly themes and lessons.

You’ll also be part of a group with direct access to me through a group chat, ongoing Q&As, and live sessions. My goal is to help you discover the style that gives you your own unique edge, and walk away with the tools and confidence to get dressed in a way that feels like you.

Comment STYLE if you’re interested in signing up for the challenge, and I’ll make sure to follow up with all the details as soon as they’re ready.

What’s Been Catching My Eye (In No Particular Order)

  • Kits blue light glasses. By now you probably all know my obsession with sunglasses, well I love glasses too! I’m also on my phone and computer all the time… I have been proactive about wearing blue light glasses to protect my eyes. Kit has cute and functional styles. You can also make them prescription as well.

  • Left On Friday swim suits. They’re having a 30% off sale and it ends tonight. Their suits provide great coverage and lift and come in super fun mix and match colors. I got a red top and purple bottoms.

  • These Cakes Body nipple covers. They are the Grippy cakes, so they grip but are not sticky. They’re perfect under swim, sports bras, or any tight tops with shelf bras where you want just a little extra coverage. I also have been wanting to try their newest product Cakes Lift. Its a nipple cover that also lifts, a 2-in-1 how genius! Use code CAKESQ3THECOLORIST for 21% off.

Instagram Highlights

And be sure to catch up on all the reels and fun that has been happening on my instagram.

A big theme of the week on instagram was a continuation of fall trends and mentally preparing for that transition. I know its still too hot out to wear anything remotely layered, hello 114 degrees today in Arizona, but its never too early to start thinking and planning your fall wardrobe. Am I right?

Plus I think fall and winter fashion is so fun and can be much more creative with all the layering and accessories. I’m also working a few newer series like a GRWM format while I share my fashion opinions and advice as well as continuing my Ditch the Default carousels.
